SCAN celebrating an award of £3,406 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.
We will be using the funding to cover the printing and postage costs of our monthly informative newsletter during our 30th Anniversary year. This new National Lottery funding will gives us the opportunity to include more information for people in the local community who do not have access to or are unable to use computers. The printed newsletters are distributed to all local libraries and community centres, other voluntary groups and residential addresses as well as electronic copies to local organisations and service providers.
We continue to hold virtual joint meetings with the Spelthorne Physical, Sensory and Cognitive Disability (SPSCD) Forum and as it’s our Anniversary Year, we are hopeful that some of SCAN’s former members, will be able to ‘drop in’ to future meetings, to introduce themselves. Please Join US to meet THEM. Email email@example.com for the details for how to join the meetings or visit the S P S C D Forum web page
The first of the special issue newsletters for 2022 was distributed at the end of February 2022. Anyone with New Contributions is asked to submit them before the 24th of each month. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
Over the year I shall be revisiting some of the organisations and people that have featured in SCAN’s newsletters over the last 30 years with information, where available, of what they have been doing more recently. Some organisations and campaigns have disappeared, but others have evolved into new organisations or have merged with other likeminded groups.
Also from the research undertaken so far this year, new projects and campaigns have evolved . There is naturally going to be limited space available in each of the paper issues of the newsletters, but if we can secure additional funding going through the year then a new newsletter project could run on from April 2023 that will continue to look at anything still 'Active' from the Archive that it has not been possible to include in the current year. Either email email@example.com or fill in the ‘Contact SCAN’ form on this page.
